While Brussels is definitely a great gastronomy destination in Europe, it is also known throughout the world as the seat of the European Union and more. Moreover, the city is also home to many attractive destinations regularly flocked by tourists all year round. Take a look at some of world-famous sites in the list below:

1.     Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique (Belgian Royal Museums of Fine Art) and the Musée Magritte (Magritte Museum)-Considered as Brussels’ most prized museum, this museum complex prides itself with a rich blend of 14th century art collections and an extensive display of contemporary arts and pieces. Together, these museums are home to some of Belgium’s finest artists such as Memling, Rubens, Delvaux, Margitte, and Bouts.

2.     Muséum des Sciences Naturelles (Natural Sciences Museum)-Located near the European Parliament building, this museum is the world’s most admired dinosaur collections. Aside from the dinosaurs section, a special display of the Arctic and Antarctic regions are also presented. In addition, this site has also a special marine mammals section. This place is perhaps the world’s richest museum in terms of extinct and extant forms of wildlife in display.

3.     Manneken-Pis-This symbol of self-mockery and irreverence in the heart of the city–a small bronze statue of a urinating boy–is said to be the work of Rodin. This fine bronze architecture was said to be inspired by legendary peasant lads who extinguished fires with their urine. The Manneken-Pis is constantly used by hundreds of companies as a background in their marketing campaigns and other social events like charity balls.

4.     Parc de Bruxelles and Palais Royal (Royal Palace)-Situated adjacent to Brussels’ prominent buildings, this park was inaugurated in 1870. It is bordered by Palais des Académies(formerly the residence of Prince of Orange) and Place de Trône–a striking statue of Leopold II on horseback–in the southeast. Facing the Parc is the Palais Royal, the palace used by the royal family during state functions and as a royal office.

5.     Musée BELvue (BELvue Museum)-Located in the site of the Belgian Revolution in 1830, the Musée BELvue is a commemoration to the significant history of the country since the defeat of Napoleon in Waterloo. The motif of this site is centered on the reigns of each monarchs of Belgium.
