Festivals & Events in Pattaya Part 2

In this blog I will continue describing the most interesting events that take place in one of the most famous cities in Thailand – Pattaya.  Hope that reading my blog you will be able to catch at least a part from the spirit of Pattaya. If you want to experience that with your own senses, you need to visit the city and to stay for a couple of days. There are good places for accommodation in Pattaya, you just have to know what exactly you want.

1.     Pattaya International Music Festival

One of the most notable events of Pattaya is the Pattaya Music Festival. Music lovers gather in this event held on the beach. Rock, pop, jazz, hiphop, country bands convivially entertain their audience. There are stalls of record companies and film production houses and musical instruments. CDs and music magazines are also on sales. Date: March, Location: South Pattaya

2.     Pattaya Marathon

Pattaya Marathon is held annually in July. The participants can choose to run in three categories: full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.10 km), quarter marathon (10.55 km), wheelchair marathon and student marathon. This event is recognized internationally with participants from all over the world and the numbers increase every year. All ages and nationalities are welcome. Date: July, Location: Central Pattaya

3.     Pattaya Vegetarian Festival

Annually, Pattaya City hold the 11-day vegetarian festival featuring large amounts of vegetarian food and a grand procession carrying two statues of Chinese deities - Kiew Uang Huk Jo and Kuanyin Bodhisattava. The procession will march the city and end at Sawang Boribun Dhamma Sathan. Participants should dress in white. Date: October, Location: North Pattaya

4.     Pattaya’s Songkran Festival (Pattaya Wan Lai Festival)

Pattaya Wan Lai Festival or Songkran Flowing Day (Thai New Year) is held on 19 April, unlike the Thai New Year celebration in other region which is held at earlier date. Today is when people practice their water-throwing tradition.

Everyone splashes water to each other regardless of acquaintances, relatives or passerby strangers. Pattaya City also holds traditional event such as water pouring for the elderly and parade. It is also fun time to cool down the heat in the city. Date:  19th April, Location: Pattaya
